In the mid-Eighties as a bass guitarist he joins The Housemartins with college pal Paul Heaton. Based in the unfashionable northern English port of Hull, the chirpy guitar combo triumph with the hits Happy Hour and Caravan Of Love and album Hull 4 London 0. |

After The Housemartins split in 1988 Heaton goes on to form The Beautiful South while Norman returns to his first love of DJing. He forms the short-lived but successful dance group Beats International with vocalists Lindy Layton and Lester Noel. |

Norman is in the Guinness Book Of Records as the only solo artist to have had seven aliases. After Beats International he disguised himself as Freak Power, Fried Funk Food, Mighty Dub Katz, Norman Cook Presents Wildski and Pizzaman before settling on Fatboy Slim. |

It's reported that he charges about ú20,000 to remix a track, which considering his record is good value. The Fatboy treatment helped make Cornershop's Brimful Of Asha and WildChild's Renegade Master Number Ones. He gets offers all the time. Most recently in the summer of 1999 Meat Loaf requested his remixing services... He was turned down. |

Collecting the MTV award for best video the promo director Spike 'Being John Malkovich' Jonze pretended to be troupe leader Richard Koufey. Norman married Radio One DJ Zoe Ball in August 1999. The couple had met in an Ibiza club the previous summer. They plan to make babies. Ahhh. There is a greyhound also called Fatboy Slim. |
