Billy Bragg has had a road named after him - Bragg Close in Dagenham.
The 12 houses on the close will offer shared ownership opportunities for first-time buyers unable to buy a property outright, something the left-wing troubadour would no doubt approve of.
Fittingly, Bragg Close was built on the sight of The Roundhouse, Dagenham's premier music venue in the late-Seventies and early-Eighties where the singer/songwriter played his first gig in 1984. He first went there in 1974/5 to see Alvin Lee. It is thought that Bragg will attend the close's opening ceremony. |
