Grammys Provide A Reminder Of What Amy Has To Offer

Five Grammy awards including record and song of the year. This is the important news that fans of Amy Winehouse want to be reading about. Let us take this acknowledgement from the industry to remind ourselves of just how good 'Back to Black' is as an album and what a talented and important artist Ms Winehouse is.

Amy took to the stage at the award ceremony looking better than she has for a long time and ripped straight into 'You Know I'm No Good' her nerves quickly dissolving as she blasted seamlessly into 'Rehab'. Her reaction on hearing her name announced for the winner of Record of the Year seemed genuinely surprised. In accepting the award Amy said, "Thank you to everyone at Island Records, everyone at EMI Music Publishing...to my mum and dad, to my Blake incarcerated...and to London, this is for London!"

Yes Amy Winehouse has some issues but isn't it about time we shifted the focus to what's important. I’m not interested in how many rocks she has or hasn't smoked. I don't care if there’s a picture of her in Hate Magazine outside a needle exchange. I AM interested in her next album, the one after that and the one after that. If we allow ourselves to get bogged down in the tabloid feeding frenzy that surrounds Amy, there is a real danger that it will overshadow everything else and we forget how good the music is. Maybe Amy isn’t the classiest lady on the block – but she is most definitely a class act.
