MORRISSEY LOSES VOICE AFTER THREE SONGS

Comedians Break The News And Take The Flak

There was disappointment for Morrissey fans at Camden Roundhouse last Friday when the singer had to leave the stage because of problems with his throat. After struggling through the first three songs of the set Morrissey could go on no longer and walked off leaving fans bemused.

Attending the show were Jonathan Ross, Russell Brand and David Walliams. On discovering what was happening the funny men took to the stage to break the news and try to lighten the atmosphere. This didn't quite go to plan and Jonathan, Russell and David found themselves in the firing line – quite literally as the stage was targeted with beer, coins and even bottles.

The following morning on his Radio 2 show Jonathan Ross said, "I think people thought we were laughing at their suffering, which we weren't. When we were on stage, I've never heard anything like it, no manners, booing, throwing bottles. I wanted to say to them to get some bloody perspective. It's a fat bloke going to sing some songs, that's all. It's not the end of the world."

The gigs programmed for Saturday and Sunday were subsequently cancelled. They are however set to be re-scheduled at a later date.
